Unfortunately for applicants, Kellogg has repeatedly decreased the word limit for its essays in recent years, and it has not given candidates the same opportunities to roam as Harvard Business School, the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and its crosstown rival Chicago Booth all do. Kellogg’s essays are not very open-ended, meaning that the school’s applicants may worry that they can present only a narrow slice of their best to the admissions committee. Be sure to make especially good use of your recommendations, resume, interview, and short-answer responses, so that Kellogg gets to know the full you. For 2015â€"2016, the following two essays are required of all applicants. Essay 1: Leadership and teamwork are integral parts of the Kellogg experience. Describe a recent and meaningful time you were a leader. What challenges did you face, and what did you learn? (450 words) This is a fairly straightforward essay prompt. You should launch directly into your narrative and detail the specific actions you took in leading your team. Although we imagine most candidates will write about a success, some applicants may choose to recount a leadership experience that was particularly meaningful, even if the intended goals were not achieved. Indeed, the key here is not necessarily to show that you were a rousing leader who carried your team on your back, all the way to victory, but rather that you shared a valuable experience with others and extracted the most from your team members, regardless of the outcome. The school makes a point of acknowledging within this essay prompt that “leadership and teamwork are integral parts of Kellogg,” seeming to highlight the collaboration and cooperation ideally involved in such arrangementsâ€"and thereby implying that the spirit of teamwork should be somehow implicit in your essay. A mistake applicants often make in writing this kind of essay is presenting a strong narrative wherein they are incredible leaders, and then near the end, making a brief (and typically disjointed) reference to a hardship or conflict encountered along the way, meant to fulfill the “challenges” element of the essay prompt. To be effective and believable, your ups and downs must be woven intrinsically into your narrative, rather than simply being acknowledged at the end. The best way to answer this question is to really take the question at face value and think about… how you have grown in the past! Kellogg has no preconceived notions of what applicants should offer in response to this query; it simply wants to learn more about who you are now and how you came to be this person. Rather than pandering to what you think Kellogg wants to hear or trying to conceive of a storyline that seems like it would sound good, truly reflect on your growth to date and focus on analyzing one or two recent experiences that effectively reveal how you have developed and matured. You might use the first 200â€"250 words of your essay to share a brief anecdote or two illustrating your growth. These anecdotes can be thematically connected, or they can present two separate circumstances in which you grew in different ways. This portion of your essay will show that you possess the capacity to grow, so in the rest of your submission, you can outline your agenda for growth at Kellogg. You can home in on academic and/or professional needs or on broader personal needs (such as intellectual growth or global exposure)â€"either option is fine. That will not happen if you are listing a few facts you have simply committed to memory!  Kellogg offers very clear advice on thi s topic: “We don’t want scripted answersâ€"we want to get to know you and learn something new…when you record your answer speak authenticallyâ€"we can tell if you are reading notes! And, no need to memorize an answer to the Kellogg question… it might make you sound like a robot.” Kellogg’s “get to know you” question will be about a topic you know very wellâ€"you! So, as we often advise candidates, do not try to anticipate what the school will ask or guess what it wants to hear and skew your response to match. Be sure to answer the question honestly and authentically, and use this “live” opportunity to show the admissions committee your personality and character. The type of question you might be asked could be “What is your favorite book and why?” or “If you unexpectedly had 24 work-free hours, how would you spend them?” Given that one minute is not very long, you should definitely run through several mock interviewsâ€"even if they are just in front of a mirrorâ€"to get a sense of how quickly those 60 seconds will pass when you are later in front of the camera. Marshall McLuhan famously stated, “The medium is the message.” We can skip the philosophical debate about the validity of “McLuhanism” here, but in our opinion, being calm, confident, and sincere is a very important part of this battle. Whether you are answering the school-specific question or the “get to know you” query, simply relax and strive to share your thoughts in a way that does not seem rehearsedâ€"absolutely do  not  try to use notes that you have hidden somewhere. Be yourself, and if you need help reaching that comfort zone, we can provide assistance with mock interviews. One final note about authenticity: although you can prepare for Kellogg’s video essays as much as you want (the school even provides ten practice questions to help you in your preparations), you only get one chance at the recording. If you stumble while answering or ultimately are unhappy with your answer, unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about it. You will not have the option of rerecording your response or trying again another time. We understand that this may make you nervous, but we encourage you to think about the situation a little differently. Kellogg wants to get to know the authentic you, not a scripted you, through these video essays. If you fumble for words or lose your train of thought, just laugh or shrug and continue with your response. Accepting a mistake with a sense of humor and grace will give the admissions committee a more positive and natural impression of your personality than rigid scripting and overpreparation ever could. Number of service providers has been increased from one, i.e state monopoly, to more than 70 within a short period of time. With the increased competition telecom service providers find it difficult to retain the existing customers. Cognitive, affective, and conative antecedents of relative attitude are identified as contributing to loyalty, along with motivational, perceptual, and behavioural consequences ( Dick and Basu , 1994). In the customer centred business, survival remains to the degree that customer satisfaction is met. Previous research studies have shows that the repurchase intent was the main benefit of customer retention. However, some had identified multiple benefits like repurchase intent, price tolerance, willingness to recommend etc. In reaching retention, vendors should manage satisfaction and consequences of Customer Loyalty (Naranyandas, 1998). Loyalty too has a pyramid effect that suggests of having hierarchy in loyalty levels between customer and vendor. Change in loyalty level will manifest itself in the presence of specific attitude and behaviour (Aaker, 1991). Customer loyalty and satisfaction are integral part of customer retention process. Customer Retention is a primary measure of loyalty. There is a positive relationship between changes in satisfaction and share of wallet. The target population may be Planned Parenthood (PP) as an entity, but the policy will affect the clients that depend on PP for services. If House Bill 294 passes, it will end federal funding to Planned Parenthood (House Bill 294, 2015). Planned Parenthood provides services to Medicaid recipients and other individuals with little to no income. The services provided by PP include providing free or low-cost contraceptives, cancer screenings, STD testing and treatment (Planned Parenthood, 2016). The population who loses if this policy is passed are the individuals living in poverty and medically underserved areas since they are over half of PP clients (Heisler, 2016). They are already disadvantaged by not having sufficient medical services in the area; Planned Parenthood is one of the key resources that are specifically planted in low-income areas to be accessible to this diverse population. With the easy access to contraceptives being lost, pregnancy will be on the rise along wit h STDs, since treatment will no longer be provided in a quick and easy manner. For an already impoverished and oppressed community these consequences could be dire. 2. The goal of House Bill 294 is ultimately to ensure funds are not given to any organization that performs or promotes abortions (House Bill 294, 2015). Authors have penned the injustice of such gender roles throughout their works, although it was simply a part of life to them at the time. One such author is Emily Brontà «, a woman who never married. She and her sisters experienced many familial hardships and began writing at a young age, perhaps as a coping mechanism. With this in mind and assessing trials and events in her life, one cannot help but find uncanny parallels between the characters of her novels and the social turmoil she witnessed. At first glance, Brontà «Ã¢â‚¬â„¢s Wuthering Heights may seem to be the tragedy of two young lovers. However, the reader cannot truly comprehend or explain Catherine’s decision to marry Edgar, as opposed to Heathcliff, without first understanding the period in which Brontà « set her novel. She cant remember the reason she went to the town. Which was to get some medicine for her grandson. She starts to talk to herself on her trip. A lot of old people do this to keep themselves company. She says Up throught pines and right after Now down through Oaks.(438) I think that this symbolizes life. In which it has many ups and downs. Also she makes a reference to the type of tree. In the beginning of life you are weaker then you are at the end. So when you start your life you are like a pine tree and when you end it your more like an Oak tree. Then Ms Jackson gets stuck in a thorn bush. She struggles to get away. This represents all the struggles that people have in life. The fact that everyone gets slowed by little problems during there lifetime. I am under the impression that Ms Jackson is around the age of 80-90. She makes a comment I wasnt as old as I thought.(438) What I think she is trying to say is that she still has a young look at life. She has that I can do that attitude. Later in the story she comes to a cornfield. She says that the cornfield looks like a maze. The cornfield had no path so she had to use her instinks to get through the field. People get off of their path everyday and they have to use their instinks and smarts to keep them out of trouble and in the right direction. Ms Jackson get attacked by a black dog and ends up in a ditch. The owner of the dog comes by and helps her up. Everyone needs someone to pick him or her up everyonce in a while. Its always good to know that there is someone there to pick you up when you fall down. Later the young guy ends up pointing a gun at Ms Jackson. She doesnt move and she doesnt act scared at all. She is a stong individual. Finally she makes it to the town. She asks a lady to help her tie her shoes. Then she searches around the town for a building and goes in. She ends up at the doctors office. She then forgets why she is at the doctors and starts to get scared. Adventually she remembers why she is there. The people at the doctors office know who she is and help her to regain the memory of why she is there. The reason she got scared is because no one wants to know that they are starting to be unable to remember things. She is starting to get really old and it is starting to show. This short story is about a lady that went through life and made it. This story relates a lot to the story of life. How people have to take tests to make it through certain situations. Melvin Tumin (1953) put forward a circular argument and criticises David and Moore by putting forward such questions as ‘how do we know what job is more important? ’ answer ‘because it’s highly Rewarded’ and why are some jobs higher rewarded than others? ’ answer ‘because they are more important’. Marxists believe that society only transmits the ideology of the ruling class therefore it disadvantages the working classes in education. One example is that Marxists prepare the working class for there jobs through education therefore it is only transmitting values of the ruling class. Also Marxists believe that the state is controlled by the ruling classes who transmit the ideology state apparatus which is that it maintains control through controlling people’s ideas, values and beliefs through religion, mass media and the education system. This criticises the functionalist view as social solidarity is meant to transmit these values and beliefs which according to Marxists are only means to control the working class. Meritocracy according to Marxists is a myth as we are controlled by the higher classes and we cannot achieve our status we ascribe our status. Another big criticism of functionalism in education is that functionalists believe that everybody at school behaves and accepts all that is taught when this is not the true case. It does not explain why some people come to fail examinations if everybody works in a general ‘consensus’. Dennis Wrong (1961) refers to this as ‘puppets in society’. The new right believe that the state fails to prepare the young for work as the state discourages choice and competition. Another disadvantage is that functionalists cannot explain under-achievement and inequality of opportunity in education. In conclusion Functionalism has a good general understanding of Education but it has quite obvious flaws as not everybody is going to get on in society so it is impossible to have a general consensus. Also the disadvantages of Functionalism in education seem to out weigh the positives therefore functionalism does not give a real positive understanding of education.

As populations and global warming increases, Long Island New York s aquifers which are layers of water underground that can be extracted throw the use of water wells, have become more extremely demanding for many New Yorkers alike. Long Islands water s over the years have drastically increased in high level risks of water contamination, high levels of nitrogen and toxic pollutants since the early 1940 s, 60s, late 80 s mid 1990 s which finally leading up to now has become an ongoing issue that is extremely important and needs effective solutions to the resolving of the high risks of Long Islands Polluted Waters. It was determined that the 1962 samples were heavier in delta13C suggesting that organic carbon was being oxidized at a greater rate in the 1990 s then in the 1960 s. Scientist have come to a hypothesis that the waters stress was a contributing factor to an increase in waste water effluent treated sewage which a study measured a fair amount of bacteria spores called Clostridium perfringens which was found in human excrement (Waste Water in Long Island, n.d.). This meant that Long Island has a big sewage pollution problem. According to Suffolk County s comprehensive water resource management plan in 2010, there have been large changes in the ground water aquifers between the years 1987 to 2005.
